Amarillo is a great city in northern Texas. It can be overlooked at times with as large as Texas is and with as many big cities as the state has, but you should get to know Amarillo. Are you a Texan? If so, how long have you lived there? It takes awhile to explore the state, trust me I know. I lived there for nine years just south of the capital city, Austin.
In fact, my first high school girlfriend when I lived in Kentucky moved away at the end of the year to none other than Amarillo, Texas. If there are any chain restaurants, however, they are getting skipped.
At #1 is Tyler’s Barbecue, and by the way, there are currently 411 restaurants currently listed in Amarillo. Tyler’s Barbecue is on Paramount Boulevard, and you do know what to expect from a barbecue place in Texas, right? It’s only going to be the best barbecue you’ve ever tasted. Get your brisket, make it a sandwich if you like, and be sure you don’t pass up the peach cobbler for dessert.
Do you like hole in the wall restaurant recommendations? They actually can be hit or miss, despite having such an appeal overall. The fact this this next restaurant is ranked #2 in Amarillo, you know it’s going to be good, despite it being referred to in reviews as a hole in the wall restaurant. People say the food is great and that what you might want to order is a burger. The name of the place is Coyote Bluff Cafe.
The next featured restaurant is a pizzeria, so get ready to chow down on the best pizza pies. It’s not ranked #3 for nothing, so 575 Pizzeria might be worth your time, especially if you are really craving some authentic pizza. At #4 is actually the 5th ranked restaurant because the 4th was a chain steakhouse. Moving on, this restaurant is a steakhouse anyway, and so go enjoy a nice cut of meat, good sides and a dessert at Hoffbrau Steaks. They serve up catfish, too, and reviewers talk about this restaurant being close to many of the hotels, which is good for the travelers. Four more of the best restaurants in Amarillo are, and to close: Blue Sky, Big Texan State Ranch, Ye Old Pancake Stadium and El Bracero Mexican Grill.
